Ritmo Flamenco is going on tour in 2022! We will be performing in Deep River, ON on April 20 and Kirkland Lake on April 22nd, 2022! Can’t wait to bring our troupe of 6 incredible musicians and dancers to the North!
Ritmo Flamenco is going on tour this spring to Northern Ontario! We will be performing in Deep River, ON on Wednesday, April 20 followed by Kirkland Lake on Thursday, April 21st. We will be bringing a small touring company of 6 dancers and musicians! This tour was originally scheduled for 2020 but due to COVID, we have had to wait until we could finally proceed. Looking forward to bringing flamenco to Northern Ontario!

FLIGHT FESTIVAL in Prince Edward County August 18-22, 2021!
We are so excited at the prospects of performing live again. There is also a NEW CONTEMPORARY DANCE FESTIVAL in the county this summer and Ritmo Flamenco will be performing a work from their repertoire featuring the Scannura family at their best! Tickets are already selling and the event is the beautiful grounds of The Eddie, also home to the Festival Players of Prince Edward County. Visit the website to get your tickets before they are gone! Flamenco al Aire Libre
Ritmo Flamenco will be showcasing all of our amazing students as well as guest performances by members of the professional company in a new film that will be shot on our new rooftop event venue! It’s been a different year for sure and we want to give our students a reward for all the hard work they have done towards studying online and learning new choreography. This filming will take place June 6 and it will be streamed online at a later date.
NEW DANCE FESTIVAL IN PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY THIS AUG 2021!
We are so excited at the prospect of being part of a new contemporary dance festival which will be the first of its kind in Prince Edward County. We will be aligning with prominent contemporary dance artists and this festival will be under the umbrella of the County’s well known Festival Players. The venue is “The Eddie”, a gorgeous event venue in Wellington just minutes from our home in the county. The name of the festival is: Flight: Prince Edward County’s Festival of Contemporary Dance.

We were honoured to be invited to perform a private event for esteemed Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan and a small group of family members this past June, 2020.
Encore! Hall of Fame – Dance Collection Danse (postponed to 2021)
We are thrilled to take part as featured performers at this memorable event that commemorates inductees into the Dance Hall of Fame. An initiative of Dance Collection Danse, the national arts organization which former dancer Miriam Adams founded with her late husband and fellow dancer Lawrence in the eighties to record and preserve the country’s fleeting dance history, Encore! Dance Hall of Fame celebrates the contributions made by dancers—and dance lovers—to the development of Canadian arts and culture.

We were excited to be hold a live performance featuring the award-winning flamenco dance family Roger Scannura on flamenco guitar, award-winning daughter Anjelica Scannura and Artistic Director Valerie Scannura. They were joined by company dancer Sachi Uguccioni and surprise musical guests. The event was filled with our amazing students and flamenco lovers. We will do it again soon!
Roger will be performing this Saturday, November 2 in Deseronto, ON for the Deseronto and District Historical Society. This event is very important to us as it will be raising funds and awareness of the unique history of the Deseronto area. This event features flamenco guitar by Roger Scannura and there are several other musical performers.

Open Studio – Fall for Dance North
A dance studio without walls, Fall for Dance North’s FREE Union program – a part of Union Dance – extends year round showcasing unique dance events in Union Station’s West Wing. FFDN’S FREE Union program takes dance off the stage and brings it to the gateway of Canada at the country’s busiest hub. Join Ritmo Flamenco on Tuesday, April 16 from 4-6pm while award-winning choreographer Anjelica Scannura rehearses a work in progress with the dancers of Ritmo Flamenco in her unique flamenco fusion of flamenco and bellydance featuring acclaimed guitarist Roger Scannura and Artistic Director Valerie Scannura.
Ritmo Flamenco will be presenting their new work ‘El Flamenco’ as part of Dance Weekend 2019 on Saturday, January 26 at 1:00pm at the Fleck Dance Theatre, Harbourfront Centre. Admission is $15 minimum donation and is sponsored by Dance Ontario .
About the work: El Flamenco is a metamorphosis from the racaus abandon of traditional improvisational flamenco that was performed in a tablao setting into a completely different tempo that reflects a contemporary spirit. Choreographer Anjelica Scannura is Canada’s foremost flamenco dancer having honed her craft in Spain from the age of ten. The Scannura family pursues their art form with integrity and never ceases to entertain!
